I enjoy reading Herk's log. His very positive attitude is always a great inspiration, especially on tough days. I will be 50 years old in December and his column provides great motivation. Thanks Herk.

Jeff

It's the best ! Very motivating! I've never heard of anyone performing such a high number of singles before but I started training that way {3 sessions so far} and I like the challenge of more singles with heavy weight. I also enjoy reading about combining strongman events into weekly workouts! Keep it up Herk! You're the best!

There must be someone else who reads this great site who is also a member of the "front row union"........if there is they'll know what I mean! To play in the front row is the epitomy of strength........with the requirement for massive absolute strength and an abundance of stamina and cardiovascular fitness.

Please tell me that I'm not alone!!!!

Great site, Herk is huge, more Dr Ken (I expect he knows a little about front row play), get some stuff on strength for rugby!!! (I'll do it if you like.)

Steve (aka taffytighthead)
ps I'm WELSH not English!

Just wanted to commend you on a great site! It's clear you all work hard at content and presentation. The information is great. The presentation is smooth and uncluttered. Overall, very well done. Thanks, its now my favorite fitness site on the web!!!

Thanks for putting this up and updating it!!

John

Cyberpump,

I'd just like to take a moment to tell you how much I have enjoyed your page, I feel like I have been searching for the right path in strength training for a while and finally found it. Your web site is an invaluable resource and the sheer amount of thorough, inciteful and free training adivice you offer H.I.T.ers is amazing. I especially enjoy Mr. Robert Sparkman's column, he is quite an individual, with an unrivaled positive attitude, please keep his column coming! Thank you for your time,

Very Respectfully,
Brett Lamborn

I just wanted to take a minute to express the graditude I have for your website. I love coming to this website because I know that I'm going to get scientifically proven information, rather than ads and BS that you get from other websties, magazines, etc. I know that I'm going to come away with some real knowledge and also get some information on where to get futher education. I really appreciate the effort you people put into this website and I hope you guys keep it up.

Thankfully yours,

Jared Winship

I have been trying to put on weight for 20 years. At the age of 17 I was 6'6" and only weighed 155. During the next 15 years I managed to put on 65 lbs. but could never break the 220 barrier (I spent 5 years trying). Usually I would bounce between 215 and 220. In the past 4 months I have added almost 20 lbs. using the HIT workout. I have changed nothing but the workout. It is hard to believe one can do less sets and spend less time in the gym and gain mass. I am here to tell you it can be done.

Great information I can't find anywhere else! Real questions that happen in the real world!

DEAR SIR,

I CAME ACROSS YOUR WEBSITE WHILE SURFING THE WEB---INCIDENTALLY THE SAME TIME THAT I DISCOVERED THE WEBSITE OF MR. C.BASS.I POSTED A E,MAIL TO MR BASS WHO REPLIED WITH SOME KIND WORDS. SINCE THEN I HAVE READ MOST OF THE CONTENTS OF YOUR WEBSITE AND MY RESPONSE TO THE ARTICLES IS --- ITS COMMON SENSE.

I HAVE BEEN EXERCISING WITH WEIGHTS SINCE 1963. MY DAD AND HIS COUSINS USED TO WORKOUT WITH BARBELLS AND DUMBELLS AND AS A YOUNGSTER I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEIR STRENGTH. I REMEMBER THEM TAKLING ABOUT THE PHYSIQUE STARS OF THE DAY----MESSRS REEVES, PARK,PEARL, GRIMEK ETC. I RECALL MY DAD TELLING ME THAT THE SECRET WAS TO FIND A WAY OT EXERCISE THAT WOULD MAXIMISE ONES GENETIC POTENTIAL.---HIS WISE WORDS STAYED WITH ME---HOWEVER I WAS SEDUCED BY THE GLOSSY MAGAZINES TELLING ME THAT I HAD TO EXERCISE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS.FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS I TRAINED THREE DAYS A WEEK ---THREE SETS A BODYPART,SIX TO EIGHT REPS A SET---. I MADE IMPRESSIVE GAINS AND WAS VERY PLEASED. IN 1968 I CAME TO LIVE IN ENGLAND AND IT WAS HERE THAT I FIRST HEARD ABOUT STEROIDS. THANK GOD I DID NOT TAKE ANY. MY HEALTH AND MY FAMILY WERE MORE IMPORTANT.

SIR, IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO REALISE THAT IT IS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO "VOLUME TRAIN FOUR OR FIVE TIMES A WEEK" I HAD NOT HEARD OF HIT TRAINING AND I CONTINUED TO TRAIN IN THE PATTERN MY DAD TAUGHT ME I KEPT EXCELLENT HEALTH AND SUFFERED NO INJURIES AND CONTINUED TO GET STRONGER.

TWO YEARS AGO MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DIAGNOSED SUFFERING FROM CANCER MY FAMILY WERE DEVASTATED SHE DIED IN MAY THIS YEAR DURING THIS PERIOD MY EXERCISE PROGRAMME UNRAVELLED. IT IS ONLY NOW THAT I HAVE STARTED TO EXERCISE. SIR, YOUR ADVICE AND INSTRUCTIONS ARE INVALUABLE. I HAVE BROUGHT DOWN THE CURTAIN ON MY OLD EXERCISE WAYS. YOU HAVE GIVEN ME THE ENTHUSIASM TO EXERCISE AGAIN----THANK YOU

RONNIE REBEIRO.

hi people

your site kicks ass, as usual, keep up the great work. But I would love to see more video clips and audio, especially Arthur Jones. I'm sure many people will love to hear what he has to say. This is also the best way to get people to accept HIT, by hearing Arthur Jones. Thanx

Thank you Robert Sparkman for your time and effort on Herk's Log. Thank you for inspiring us to be better strength athletes and human beings. I may never squat 400 x 100, but we can all be better individuals. Hope the negative comments in the garage gym thread did not discourage, there are always a few cynical trolls bent on destruction. Keep up the good work.

Greg Godwin

I can't tell you how great your site is, you must get tons of compliments... Being a webmaster and designer myself I know how much work you had to put into and keep putting into this site to make it what it has become... It has a great layout, easier for newbies, and great information!! Love it, Love it, Love it...Keep up the good work,
especially the forum! Thanks, MacManiac

Folks,

I was referred to your web site via WWW.DAVEDRAPER.COM. I'm blown away! Since early this year, I've lost almost 100 lbs and I'm making HUGE gains in the gym! I've done 99% of my own weight loss research via the internet and the timing of finding your site couldn't be better! Now I'm searching for how I can do right in the gym! In the last 20 minutes, I've learned several things that if my gym was open now, I'd go and try! Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks!!

Hello!

I like your website very much. Itīs has A LOT of excellent training information!

Itīs simply one of the best weight training websites around.

What I don't like is the name..."Cyberpump" - that sounds like pumping, toning, steroids and pink plastic dumbbells!...

Greetings,
Andy

[editor's reply: You'll find none of that here! :) If I was to do it all over again, the site would probably have a different name. I recently told a co-worker about the site and he said "Cyberhump?!". After 10 minutes of explaining by me he understood what the site was about and the real title.]

I just wanted to say that the latest video should be the goal of anyone that intends to train really hard for optimal progress. Dr. Ken had sent me a video some time ago that included the above scene which also included Greg Roman and Matt Nelson. Each one went to 'true' muscular failure, which was far beyond where most believe the set should have stopped. For those intentionally holding back, think about how far you need to go before you start responding. You have to decide whether you are training for 'general' fitness or hardcore strength and muscle development. Also consider the abilities of the individual prior to deciding that all out effort should be used or not...just a thought

A no bullshit source of information.

God bless you all.

In looking for a site to give some authority to comments I made to my grandson (14 th birthday soon) this weekend about considering starting a weight training program I quit looking when I found yours. " Training Hard " is going to overwhelm him, but that's all he needs for now. His father (our son) might be considering getting him interested about now, but we lost him one year ago to ALS disease. (- 40)--- Still has several hundreds of pound of weights in the basement.

To avoid rambling on & on, I will say my start with the weights was to gain weight. My introduction to the squat was a mid thirties article in"Arena and Strength" --- Mark Berry working with Joe Hise. The flat foot squat replaced the deep knee bend on toes. I also practiced the 5 Olympic Lifts.

I missed Perry's first issue of "Iron Man" ---started with the second, and continued for years. Subscribed to all the magazines, including "Body Builder" and Roger Ells' great little mag. "Vim". (Bob Hoffman (good man) put Roger out of business.

Time to quit. MUST say, in my opinion, for one exercise only it would have to be the squat.

Saw Grimek many times, and on a couple of occasions loaded the weights for some of his exhibitions, in Detroit.

Sincerely,

Steve Pehur

Hi:

Don't let anything happen to this guy (Herk), I love the way he sets an example regarding to working his lifting into his daily life. He actually HAS a life!

Keep it up!

I just want to take the time to commend you on one of the best sites I've seen. I'm not even talking about bodybuilding sites, either, I mean of ANY sites. The same themes are used through all pages and the site loads with extreme quickness without sacrificing any "good-looks". On top of this, all of the articles and information is easy to read and very informative making this site an A+! Keep it coming!

Mike Ring

Hi :) well I love the site. I have it as the first URL that opens when I open my web browser. I've been reading the site for the past 2 years.

Matthew

Thanks for the free issue of hardgainer mag!!! I appreciate all the great information your site provides!

You guys are a huge help to me!!!!!

THANKS, DAVID

Glad to have this site for reference. I just started back in the gym lastyear, after a 20 yr. absence. I started back with basically the sameroutine I used to use, except I use almost all machines, because it's easier to use now that I have lost a leg.

If anybody tells you machines don't work, they lie. Machines work great if used right. I just switched to HIT after I found this site, and I can already feel gains that escaped me with my conventional workout. This is only in the second week. I've increased the weight with each session, don't know where this will end up, but I'm excited about working out again.

I joke with the gym manager, telling him he'll need to get new machines, because I'm almost maxing some of them now. LOL

I work out twice a week now, doing 2 sets of 8 reps to failure for each movement. It's weird trying to do everything so slow, but the burn and the pump speak for themselves. My triceps have just about exploded, and they look bigger each session.

The best thing about HIT is the decrease in joint pain I now feel on my off days. No more overtraining for me! I can't wait to see how this turns out a couple of months from now.
